Professor Khurshid Muhammad Gauhar Siddiqui was born in Patiala, undivided India, in a time when the subcontinent was on the brink of its most traumatic chapter. The 1947 partition arrived with devastating force in his family’s life — at the age of twelve, young Khurshid survived a bullet wound, and bore witness to the martyrdom of his father and his infant brother.
Where lesser men would have been broken, he was forged. Displaced, impoverished, and carrying wounds no child should carry, he arrived in Pakistan with nothing but faith, determination, and a vision. He settled in Jhang — the heartland of Punjab — and began the slow, painstaking work of building something permanent from the ruins of everything he had lost.
